About Us

An Emerging City
Founded in 1859 as a mining camp at the base of the Rocky Mountains, Denver has shed its “cow town” image to become a diverse metropolitan area with cultural and economic ties stretching around the world. Having come through a history of dramatic “booms and busts,” Denver is a fast-growing, prosperous city. As with any major metropolitan area, however, there are significant numbers of poor people and a variety of social justice issues calling for a response by people of faith.
Mile High Ministries
Began in 1988 as a collaborative effort between ten churches across denominational, cultural and economic lines. Beginning as a fellowship of leaders, Mile High Ministries has built relationships among diverse churches and people through networking groups, teaching programs and outreach efforts.
Today Mile High Ministries’ work includes transitional housing for the homeless; a legal aid clinic; intercultural mission teams to Romania, Guatemala and Kenya; urban leadership development; and training grassroots leaders to understand life and service in low-income, high-risk urban communities.
Mile High Ministries invites and equips people from all walks of life to join God’s transforming work on the margins of our community.
Together, we address practical needs of people struggling with poverty, raise awareness of local social justice issues, and cultivate servant leaders for an urbanizing world.
